Direct Elections to NHS Boards (Scotland) Bill - Consultation

Bill Butler MSP has launched a consultation paper seeking views on his private members bill that aims to introduce an element of direct election to NHS Boards.

UNISON Scotland supports the principle of direct elections to NHS Boards in line with our Revitalise our Public Services principles that seek to extend democratic accountability to quangos and other parts of the unelected state.

We have no fixed views on the detailed mechanisms set out in the consultation paper and welcome views from branches and members on the issues set out in the document.

The deadline for comments is 13 September but UNISON will need your comments at least two weeks before.
