Pay will remain a key priority for the union and it will work
to retain and strengthen national pay bargaining. Conference set
out a bargaining agenda which will include a minimum wage, affordable
childcare, career pathways for staff and investment in workplace
learning.
It recognised the challenges facing the union with the government's
policy of pay restraint and supported Glasgow City's amendment
ensuring that industrial action is considered as one of a range
of campaign tactics.
The branch's Ian Leech told conference about the successful action
which has been taken in Glasgow in defence of pay and grading.
"It is vital that the union can lead its members into effective
industrial action whether on pay or cuts."
