National Delegate Conference 19-22 June
2007
No change to subscriptions
|
Kevin Duguid |
Conference rejected a rule change that would have changed subscription
rates just a few years after they were last reviewed.
It recognised that this change would have huge impact on the union's
income, reducing, as it does, the subscriptions of low paid without
increasing subscriptions at the top end.
Opposing the change, Pat Rowland, Regional Delegate, pointed out
that UNISON's rates compare very well to other trade union subscriptions,
especially at the lower end of the scale. She urged Conference not
to reduce our income when we need it most.

Les Anderson |
Les Anderson, East Ayrshire Branch, called for support of the rule
change to encourage more low paid workers to join UNISON and get
the protection they need.
Kevin Duguid, City of Edinburgh, told conference that UNISON cannot
afford to lose the income over the coming year, facing as it does,
the challenges of Equal Pay, Privatisation and more. "I have sympathy
with this rule change, but let's do it properly by taking back through
our branches, regions and self organised groups.” he urged.
