Cuts have made bullying worse

Cuts to services have lead to an increase
in bullying in the workplace with women particularly
affected, and the union will move to tackle this with
training, including women only training, to help members
recognise the signs of bullying and what to do about
it.
There is also a recommendation that every
Branch has a dedicated steward or officer responsible
for supporting
members who experience bullying.
Supporting the motion,
City of Edinburgh's Marlyn Tweedie spoke of how the recession
and threats of privatisation are putting pressure on her members to work harder
and put up with intolerable conditions.
"The members are being bullied by the logic of budget cuts and staffing
levels," she
said. "I welcome recognition of this problem and want us to stand up to
this and to challenge these bullying managers."
