Fire & Rescue Service conditions ballot
10 October 2015: Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS)
members are being balloted from 3 October in a final attempt to
reach a collective agreement. Ballot papers must be returned
by NOON on Friday 23rd October 2015.
UNISON and UNITE members failed to agree with SFRS on the harmonisation
of terms and conditions and entered a formal consultation period
Both unions are clear that the revised pay and reward package
now on the table is the limit that can be achieved through negotiations:
Further details are included in the ballot letter sent to UNISON
SFRS members which includes
- Pay protection for all employees in detriment until 28 February
- Implementation date of revised pay scales will be 1 August
2015 and the implementation date for terms and conditions will
be 1 November 2015
- Outwith core hours allowance increased to 7.5%
Union members should also be clear that the SJC pay awards will
no longer apply and that there will be direct negotiations with
SFRS from 1 April 2016. SFRS have stated that if there is no collective
agreement then they will go to voluntary offers and thereafter
dismissal and re-engagement on the revised terms. Members are
urged to use their vote.

UNISON Scotland is at the heart of the reform of your
service and we will look after your interests as the change process
develops over the coming months and years.
The Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Bill which was passed by
the Scottish Parliament in June 2012 will create a new unitary
police force and a unitary fire and rescue service in Scotland.
UNISON members providing fire and rescue services have been advised
of new organisational arrangements to ensure members are properly
represented as we move towards a single service.
Sarah Duncan email@example.com are leading
for UNISON Scotland on the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Your local branches, stewards and staff can help you with any
queries or concerns.
UNISON Scotland has a seat on the Employee Consultation Forum.
We aim to make sure the non-uniform staff have a strong voice
in this process and your issues are properly dealt with (eg job
evaluation, equal pay, terms and conditions, pay protection, and
any redundancies which may be proposed. UNISON Scotland has huge
experience of similar reforms and how they affect staff.
UNISON will also have seats on the Business Support and Workforce
If you work in Fire and Rescue Services in Scotland there
has never been a better time to join UNISON - click here: www.unison-scotland.org.uk/join
JOIN UNISON if you have not done so already, and tell your colleagues
to do likewise.
We also want to build up our network of contacts and stewards
across every area and Station Team, so that current information
on what is happening can be fed out and back to UNISON via Lynne
and Sara. If you are interested in being a frontline contact/steward
for UNISON, let us know.
