Headlines . Communications . Home Repeal discriminatory law UNISONScotland confirmed its backing for the repeal of "Section 28". Edinburgh's George Lee called for the hysteria and misleading propaganda to be taken out of the debate. There was no place in a modern Scotland for such discriminatory legislation. One speaker expressed fears that repeal would open the way for explicit or inappropriate material in schools. Others countered that such myths and fears were being used to muddy the debate. Inappropriate materials were not acceptable in schools but this had nothing to do with the repeal of Section 28. Lyn Sheridan closed the debate with a calm, reasoned and informed destruction of the myths and disinformation being pushed to keep Section 28. Chair Mike Kirby congratulated delegates on the tenor of the debate, expressing a hope that the public debate could be as reasoned. See
