Nursing and Midwifery Council - UNISON success and by-election
The NMC is the organisation that regulates Nursing and Midwifery
in the UK, it elects members of its Council and UNISON activist
Nancy Kirkland (Lothian Health) was successful last year in
being elected as the alternate member for nurses in Scotland.
Earlier this year, two members of the Council resigned to
pursue other work. Nancy therefore stepped up to become the
registrant member for nurses in Scotland, leaving a vacancy
for the alternate member. Congratulations to Nancy!
In order to fill the two alternate member vacancies, the
NMC is holding a by-election in Scotland during the last three
months of 2007. Nominations opened in October and more details
are available at www.nmc-uk.org
If there are any UNISON members who are thinking about standing,
it would be helpful if they got in touch with UNISONScotland's
lead officer for Nursing, Bridget Hunter, b.hunter@unison.co.uk
so our impact can be maximised!
