Scotland inUNISON wants to welcome UNISON's new Scottish
Organiser. John Keggie, who joined us in May is no stranger
to many of us - especially those in the East of Scotland.
Thrown into the union firing line with the Henry Robb Leith
shipbuilding closure, John later became Divisional Organiser
for Scotland and Northern Ireland for the Communication Workers
Union, based in Edinburgh.
Also a member of the CWU NEC John moved to London in 1998
when he was elected as Deputy General Secretary.
Elections being what they are he lost a close fought contest
five years later and spent time out, getting a Marine qualification
- pursuing a long-loved hobby! But also sitting on the Arbuthnott
Commission into electoral boundaries and voting systems.
"I am relishing getting back into the heart of the Scottish
trade union movement." John said.
"I look forward to the tasks ahead with renewed vigour."
John takes over the Scottish Organiser patch vacated by Jim
Devine's election as an MP, covering the North Team, Organisation
and Recruitment, and Training and Development.
