Local Government Pensions
- political solution needed
Following the recent successful industrial action, discussions
have been taking place between the Executive, the Local Government
employers (CoSLA) and the trade unions.
While considerable initiatives have been introduced, UNISON
thinks that political pressure needs to be reasserted on the
executive to break the impasse caused by what we think is
erroneous legal advice.
Mike Kirby, Scottish Convenor, said at the Revitalise launch,
"There is a burning feeling of unfairness in local government
on pensions and we think there is a solution.
"We need political commitment to break the frustration caused
by the government's legal advisors."
Branches are urged to revitalise the political pressure.
Get members to keep up the pressure on their MSPs. Use the
draft letter on the unison website at www.unison-scotland.org.uk/pensions/pensionsemail.html
to bombard your political representatives.
