Well Magazine

Is published by the Scottish Executive as part of its programme for improving the nations health and well-being, which aims to help raise awareness and prevent the stigma around mental health.

The magazine contains lots of positive articles on all aspects of mental health.

The summer issue has features on dementia, the links between mental and physical health, and tips on living life to the full.

It's produced twice a year and is free.

ILA Scotland

It's never too late to learn. ILA Scotland is a Scottish Executive scheme that provides help, advice and funding of up to £200 per year to encourage people to get back into learning.

It's available to anyone whose annual income is £15,000 or less, or who is on benefits.

Alzheimer Scotland

Has produced a leaflet on what you can do to minimize the risk of dementia. It offers explanations and tips on healthy eating, staying mentally and physically active, and keeping up your social networks.

Tax Affairs

Are you worried about your tax affairs but nervous of approaching the Inland Revenue for help?

Taxhelp for Older people [TOP] provides an independent and free tax advice service for older people on low incomes. Problems such as reclaiming overpaid tax, checking your coding notice, getting help with form filling or helping negotiate with the Inland Revenue can all be dealt with.

Anyone aged 60 or over, with an income below £15,000 is eligible for this service.
