UNISON welcomes withdrawal of E.ON bid for ScottishPower

UNISON, Scotland's energy union , today welcomed the announcement that ScottishPower's rejection of the offer from E.ON has led to the German-based company ceasing its interest in the large Scottish-based company.

Dave Watson, UNISON's Scottish Organiser - Utilities, said "We have said throughout that retaining Scottish control over ScottishPower is in the best interests of both customers and staff. We therefore welcome the news of the cessation of E.ON's talks with ScottishPower on an offer for the company."

"The retention of an effective and efficient utility company controlled from Scotland can only be good news for Scottish jobs and the Scottish economy."
