Waiting Time Figures - Scotalnd should celebrate
NHS and congratulate staff says UNISON
UNISON, Scotland's largest health union has today
called on the people of Scotland to appreciate the National Health
Service and congratulate the staff working in it, following the
release of the latest Waiting Time Figures.
"The announcement today of the lowest waiting
time figures since 1992 is a magnificent achievement by NHS staff"
said Jim Devine, UNISON Scottish Organiser for Health.
"Every day in the Scottish Health Service:
-
60,000 people visit their GP
-
3,900 people receive treatment in an A&E
Department
-
2,500 operations are carried out
-
24,700 people are seen as outpatients
-
150 babies are born.
"This care is provided free at the time of need.
"While no healthcare system is perfect, when
we compare the NHS to all others it is still the jewel in the crown
and days like today are worth celebrating the NHS and congratulating
its staff."
