Constituency Development Plans
Before 1997 UNISON had links with Labour Members of Parliament
and in recognition of this the MP's Constituency Labour Party received
funding of £600 p.a. After 1997 to comply with the new Parliamentary
Standards recommended by the Nolan and Neill committees these arrangements
were terminated.
New agreements called Constituency Development Plans were developed
which link the Constituency Labour Party and UNISON rather than
the MP or MSP. The aim is to build the constituency and UNISON's
local links to create an effective campaigning organisation. In
recognition of this agreement UNISON provides the CLP with a grant
of £1500 per year, paid half yearly, to assist in achieving the
plan's objectives.
In Scotland UNISON has Development Plans with the following CLPs:
- Dunfermline & West Fife
- East Lothian
- Falkirk
- Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey
- Kilmarnock and Loudoun
- Midlothian
The UNISON Scotland Labour Link Committee is currently reviewing
these plans.
