Uprate minimum wage

UNISON's Scottish Council has backed a campaign to automatically uprate the minimum wage,

The call came from Dundee City Branch's Mary Crichton in a motion calling for:

• full publicity in the union for the campaign
• push the issue via the TUC, STUC and WTUC,
• use all of UNISON's links with the Labour Party, including the Affiliated Political Fund, to push for automatic uprating to keep the value of the minimum wage.

Mary reminded delegates that UNISON policy is for a minimum wage set at half male median earnings, rising to two-thirds.
