Geldof to address Scottish conference on Africa

Monday 16 May - Edinburgh

Rock star turned leading Africa Campaigner, Sir Bob Geldof, is to speak at a major conference on increasing development aid being held by the Scottish government on Monday.

You can watch the plenary sessions of conference broadcast live on the internet from 09.25 local time (08.25 GMT*) at
www.holyrood.tv
where an archive recording will also be available.

The First Minister of Scotland, Jack McConnell, who has organised the conference in Scotland's new Parliament building, will lead discussions of how Scotland can contribute to Africa's development in the light of the recent report published by the independent "Commission for Africa", an initiative supported by the UK government.

News and information will be available on the Scottish government's website www.scotland.gov.uk before, during and after the conference. Mr. McConnell will then visit Malawi later this month.
