Website Building Course
From 15-17 November 2002, 13 branch activists attended an introductory
course on web design and building. It took them from scratch through:
- the purpose of a website and introduction to the web
- planning a website
- using text, graphics, hyperlinks
- learning how to use a web authoring programme
- setting up an Internet Service Provider
- Uploading and going online
In that very short time (with only two half days actually using
the computers), everyone built the basis of a branch website.
Some are taking their work back to go on employer intranets, others
are putting the final touches back at the branch before uploading.
Below are four that got up and running on the day. They are still
under construction and need a few tweaks but they are great example
of how branches can get online. The students worked extremely
hard over the weekend and what they managed in that short time
is of great credit to their branches.
